Your view: World war is near

Wednesday, December 20, 2006

We are engaged in a war IN Iraq, not with Iraq. A war that cannot be won. The Iraqi people do not want a democracy, they don't even know what it is.

The Iraqi are a tribal, warring people that are so fanatically religious that life itself has little meaning as they are sure they are all going to be with Allah. They claim their righteous religion, yet they can do the most horrible atrocities to others even their own countrymen. They do these horrendous things, then fall down on a blanket 4, 5, 6 times a day. They think they are cleansed and absolved because they believe Allah has made it right.

Remember the newsreel with Sadam standing on a balcony with a rifle firing into the air to show he was all powerful? This is the mindset of most all Iraqi men. We are training this some warring bunch of blanket kneelers to fight another bunch of blanket huggers. It won't work. Too many wealthy Saudi and other Mideasterners are funding the bad guys - they only have to sit on the sidelines until the Americans get tired or go broke. Both are happening now.

If we had spent just a portion of our war dollars on home security instead of another Korea, Vietnam adventure we would all be safer than we are now, with half the world against us.

As it stands as of now, we are on the verge of a world war. The right "meglomaniacs" are in positions, North Korea, Iran and most of the other Mideast and some others we are not even told about even in South America.

Our politicians are sitting, or are rerunning to save their own asses in whatever election is next. This will probably end up as the worst period of our own so called democracy - they have done nothing except investigate this or that with no meaning whatsoever - a totally waster political period. And here we are in a war. They might show up at noon on Tuesday then leave at noon on Thursday.

I mentioned meglomaniacs. Well we have ours, too. The problem is we have no one else in the wings to handle our problems, which by the way are major and many.

I'm getting old. At 67 this is the very first time I have felt fear and disgust for my country. I do wish James Baker could and would run for President. He is one of the few people with the wisdom and experience able to release us from the trap we are in.
