12-year-old driver involved in crash

CHARLESTON -- A Louisiana adolescent was injured in a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Mississippi County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:28 p.m. on Route B six miles south of Charleston when the northbound vehicle driven by Jarred D. Meader, 12, of West Monroe, La., exited Interstate 57, failed to stop at the stop sign, then ran off the road and struck a guardrail.

Meader was transported by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston where he was treated for minor injuries.
