Clauvus Ward
SIKESTON -- Clauvus Ward, 88, died Dec. 23, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born Nov. 23, 1918, in Canaan, Ark., son of the late Nathaniel and Cordelia O'Neal Ward, he farmed in the Charleston area from 1946 to 1964. He then moved to Dexter, where he had a farming operation from 1964 until he retired in 1968. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II aircraft carrier Antietam.
His wife, Esthelee Branum Ward, preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1998.
One brother, Otis Ward; and one sister, Clessie Harris, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Lorene Ward of Dexter; two sisters, Emogene Horton and Earlene Johnson of Canaan; two grandsons, Steve and Glen Ward of Dexter; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
