WAPPAPELLO -- Carl V. Stewart, 83, died Aug. 29, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 11, 1922, in Parma, son of the late Addison and Grace Stewart, he had lived in the Wappapello and Poplar Bluff area most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Amvets Post in Poplar Bluff, the Wappapello VFW Post 3410 and a lifetime member of the Eagles Aerie 4066 in Wappapello.

He married Wanda Young who preceded him in death in 1988.

One son, Jerry Stewart, also preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1996.

Survivors include: one daughter, Margaret Williams of St. Louis; one brother, Tom Stewart of St. Louis; two sisters, Mary Bulger of Poplar Bluff and Belle Sexton of St. Charles; and six grandchildren and four great-grandsons.

Visitation is at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Larry Ward of Poplar Bluff will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Little Brushy Cemetery near Wappapello.
