Speakout 2/22

Thursday, February 22, 2007

Volunteering at our local hospital has opened my eyes in many aspects. I've found such enjoyment working with the hospital employees and patient's visitors. I am 22 years old, and I have discovered that there is this unmentioned rule to be a certain age to volunteer. This rule is not held by the hospital, yet it seems to me that it is held by our community. When did we stop teaching to our youth the principles of caring for people, sharing our experiences and giving of our time? I believe that it's never too late to make a needed change. Young adults, let's make the change.

Money river flows overseas

We want peace not war. So does God. Bush got us into this mess in Iraq. We don't need to go to war with Iran. Talk peace. Bush is spending all of our money on Iraq, when here in New Orleans they are still waiting for their loans and lots of red tape, where our money just flows like water overseas.

I am offering a $200 cash reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the theft of a purse and destruction of my door glass at the Ice House in Benton, Mo. on Feb. 17. All tips will remain confidential. Any information please contact me at 573-620-5462. All calls will remain confidential. Thank you.

And the award goes to. . .

I think Logan Archie should win a Grammy for that one!

While we're talking about deposits on trash on the side of the road, why stop there? I wish Wal-Mart had a way to put those cameras in the parking lot to good use and charge the "trash" that leaves their cart in a parking space or up against someone else's car $5. It's just sheer laziness. If you're too lame or lazy to put your cart up, you don't deserve the privilege to shop.

I'm also a paid subscriber to the Standard Democrat and I don't mind the pictures of the half-dressed women. Keep up the good work!

I would like to know what pictures in the paper are of half-dressed girls and why this idiot has to call at least three times a week and ask about it.
