EAST PRAIRIE - Shelby J. Dick, 86, died at 2:15 p.m., Feb. 18, 2007, in the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 4, 1921, at Dorena, to the late Marion B. and Joella Byassee Dick, he lived most of his life in Dorena where he was a farmer. A member of the First Baptist Church of East Prairie, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

On Dec. 21, 1941, he married Nancy Louise Wainscott who survives.

Other survivors include: one son, Terry Dick of Woodlands, Texas; two daughters, Shelby Wilson of Houston and Joyce Abner of Charleston; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, Shawn Taylor Dick of Houston and Garrett Shankle of Charleston.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Ted Wimberley and George White officiating.

Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: McIvan Jones, Ivan Jones, Kenny Kindle Jr., Ronnie Hall, Richard Sutton and Bob Munson.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Gene Hall, Buddy Dunn, Lewis Jones and Dennis Carden.
