Your view: Thanks Lambert's

Monday, December 11, 2006

My name is Deborah Christie from St. Louis, Missouri. As a former Sikeston resident who's lived in the city for many years now, I have always been aware of and appreciated how different the nature of the people are in a small town versus the city. Today I was reminded of just how different and wanted to write and show my appreciation for the help I received when trying to get a food order delivered to my elderly parents who are unable to get out at this time.

I phoned Lambert's restaurant from my home in St. Louis and was first told, though in the nicest of way, they did not make deliveries. I understood and was not upset. However, when I mentioned I was seeking to have food delivered to my elderly parents, the lady I was speaking with immediately wanted to help. She would get someone to deliver the food, she said. Then she was very helpful and patient with me as I tried to decide on the various foods I wanted to order. As if her making the exception to deliver the food wasn't kind enough, when I realized Lambert's did not accept credit or debit cards I was told no problem, an invoice would be sent to me to pay at a later date. Food delivered and an invoice to pay later...for me, a complete unknown. I almost couldn't believe it.

I couldn't believe the friendliness, helpfulness and blind trust I was receiving because unfortunately, such a thing would never happen in the same way here in the city. I know I have been gone far too long when I am shocked at the kindness and willingness of others to help! So I just want to first, thank Lambert's and the very kind lady who helped me and unbeknownst to her, gave me cause to remember and appreciate what I have been missing.

Lastly, Sikeston residents, never change because you are the best. Happy Holidays to all.

Sincerely,

Deborah Christie
