Speakout 8/10

Thursday, August 10, 2006

I was at the East Prairie post office and a man fell and another man helped him up to his vehicle. Why don't they have a rail going up the steps to get to the mailbox?

This is Terry Meer. I am a cancer patient going for chemo, I go every Thursday. I'm from East Prairie. Brother John Archie and Brother Jim Blumenberg found that I was driving myself back and forth so they decided they would put new tires on my car and help fix my car so I could drive back and forth safely. I want to thank them for being so kind even though I am not a member of their church. I also want to thank Paul Shipman. He has called every Thursday to see if I need a ride. I want to thank everyone that has done something to help my family, food, or just ask if we needed anything. We know that we can probably never pay them back but we will pray for them and we thank them.

Congratulations to Missy Marshall. The first 5K Rodeo Run was a great success. Your timing was perfect, it was great to have it just before the rodeo parade. You did very well. Let's do it again next year.

I would like to speak out in the SpeakOut about In the nutshell. I was the one who wrote in about Al Gore winning the popular vote in the last election. In here it states that I am a disgruntled Democrat. Well, I am not a disgruntled Democrat. I'm really a Republican who is crying at heart at what my Republican party has done to this country and the situation it has put it in to. However this man or lady or whoever doesn't realize that Al Gore might have lost his home state, however he did win the popular vote of this nation. That's another reason we need to get rid of the electoral college. It's a thing from the horse and buggy days, we don't need it anymore. As far as burying my head in the sand, it seems as if someone has buried theirs in the sand, but I don't intend to. I intend to speak out every chance this paper allows me to because that's the only thing we have left is the freedom of the press. No reporter should have to divulge their sources because once they have to, no paper will be allowed to tell the public what has happened. Thank you for SpeakOut.
