SIKESTON -- Elva Depro, 90, died Aug. 19, 2006, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Jan. 25, 1916, in the Big Opening community in New Madrid County, daughter of the late James Richard and Letha Presson Settles, she graduated from Matthews High School and was one of the original Sikeston Red Peppers and an avid supporter of the Sikeston Bulldog athletics. She had worked as a bookkeeper for E.P. Coleman and Co. and later the Hux Farm Agency before retiring in 1996. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

On Oct. 19, 1933, she married Harold "Dep" Depro who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1985.

In addition to her parents and husband, two brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Bob Depro of Sikeston; one sister, Elaine Lomax of Doniphan; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Geoff Posegate and Harold Norton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Gerald Settles, Bill Settles, James Walls, John Hux Jr., Steve Parker and Chad Parker.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Harvey Kelso, Terry Walls, Bruce Depro, Greg Gurley and Thomas Hunter.
