Betty Utley

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Betty Jean Utley, 58, formerly of New Madrid, Mo., died at 4:25 p.m. July 14, 2006 in her home.

Born May 26, 1948 in New Madrid, daughter of the late J.L. and Georgia Reese Ergle, she had retired from Francis House after 12 years, where she had many special friends.

On Oct. 23, 1966, in Rockford, she married Larry Utley, who survives of the home.

Other survivors included: three sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Michelle Utley, Johnny Utley and Randy Utley; four brothers, James Ergle, Bill Ergle, Tommy Ergle and Mike Ergle; five sisters, Linda Hill, Barb Hill, Debbie Forsell, Myrtle Bowers and Carol Head; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

One sister, Diane Ergle, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, where services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Orville Richardson and her brother-in-law, Billy Wilson, Rockford Police Chaplain, will officiate.
