RE: Letter to the Editor on First Annual International Trike Rally

Dear Editor

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone that played a part in orchestrating the rally last week. In our opinion it ran very smoothly and was very well thought out. Having been on the other end of the stick concerning an event of this nature, we know of the great deal of planning, work and follow through to get even the smallest of details worked out. Our hats are off to you all for such an excellent job!

It was indeed a pleasant relief from the heat to have the air conditioned Clinton Building to escape the heat, but we were also given cold drinks to refresh us. The chamber worked hard with the local businesses to see that there were lots of door prizes to be handed out.

The scavenger hunt was fun giving us a chance to explore the town and visit the stores. All the local folks we came into contact were very friendly and seemed willing to bend over backwards to make our stay enjoyable.

We send out a special thanks to the National Guard for their putting up the breeze way tents on the mall parking lot. It made watching the trike rodeo on Friday afternoon and taking the trike classes Friday and Saturday morning fun instead of us all roasting and melting on the hot pavement. Even though it still got hot, at least we were shaded from the sun and could catch a slight breeze from time to time.

Every one we talked to was very impressed with how the cities of Sikeston and Miner worked not only together but to make the stay of folks from what we understand was 32 states enjoy their stay while at the rally enough to make them want to come back next year. I know that we have already made our reservations to do just that!

So thanks again to every one and hope to meet more of you next year!

With happy clown thoughts

Dale and Kay Garrett

Hope, Ark.
