CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Mildred Marie "Mick" Miller, 88, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Aug. 19, 2008, at Juniper Village Assisted Living.

Born Aug. 26, 1919, in Barnett, Mo., to the late Harley S. and Nellie Pauline Meyers Helms, she graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., where she earned a master's degree in special education. She taught special education for many years in Sikeston and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. In 1981, she moved to Cape Coral and was a member of the Cape Coral First United Methodist Church and active with Widows Unite and served on the Board of Trustees at Sunset Towers.

On May 22, 1943, in Camp Claiborne, La., she married Wythe "Raymert" Miller who preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1986.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Wythe Raymert "Buko" Miller Jr. on May 15, 1974; and three sisters.

Survivors include: two sisters and a brother-in-law, Geraldine McGuire of Kansas City, Mo., and Jean and Dean Claiborn of Rogersville, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held Sunday in Cape Coral.

Visitation is scheduled from 9:30 until time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
