SIKESTON-- The Sikeston Lady Bulldog softball team rolled the Lady Cat's of Fredricktown 10-0 Wednesday at the Sikeston Complex.

Sikeston head coach Tiffany King felt that it was important to rebound with a win Wednesday after suffering a 2-0 loss to Jackson on Monday.

"Anytime you come back and play this well after a loss you have to be happy," King said. "We came out yesterday and had a very solid practice. The ability to come back from a tough loss and pick themselves up and win the next game is the mark of a good team. That's the type of thing we've been working so hard toward."

Sarah Hopson pitched very solidly in the contest. Hopson pitched all five innings, allowing only two hits and two walks.

"Sarah Hopson was sick yesterday, so she didn't get much practice in before this game," King said. "But, she came out and pitched very solidly. She didn't make very many mistakes and never lost her focus."

The Lady Bulldogs put on a hitting clinic Wednesday. Sikeston compiled 14 team hits with every girl in the lineup notching at least one hit.

"It's so good to see your girls hit this good, especially later in the season," King said. "They are seeing the ball very well right now. They are hitting tough pitches. They are bunting well at times. These are all things we really like to see."

Jamie Reed led the Lady Bulldogs going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Reed bats ninth for Sikeston, a fact that shows how consistent from top to bottom Sikeston has become at hitting the ball.

"It's so nice when the bottom of the lineup hits as well as they did today," King said. "We've been working a lot with the bottom of the order to get them where they need to be hitting. Jamie (Reed) is getting there. So is Kristin (King) and Kelsie (Cooper)."

The Lady Bulldogs move to 9-7 on the season with Wednesday's victory. King feels that focus, as the team heads toward district play, is the biggest key to their success.

"We have to keep working on the small things," she said. "We have to continue to stay together and (keep) fighting as a team. The closer we get to districts, the more we have to stay focused."

Sikeston will be back in action today when they travel to take on the Oran Lady Eagles at 4 p.m.
