Pedestrian is killed in accident

POPLAR BLUFF -- An elderly Stoddard County pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday evening in Butler County.
Alvera M. Hendrix, 81, of Dudley was walking across Business Highway 60, half a mile east of Poplar Bluff, at 7:18 p.m. when she was struck by the eastbound vehicle driven by Jonathan W. Jones, 32, of Wappapello, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Hendrix was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:22 p.m. by Butler County Deputy Coroner Joe Chapman and transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital Morgue. Jones was reportedly uninjured.
