Unexpected unloading

Thursday, December 11, 2008

A half of a coalbin was knocked off the tractor-trailer truck that was transporting it along Interstate 57 late Wednesday morning. The load was apparently too tall for the bridge at the Bertrand exit 4, striking the bridge then falling into the median of the eastbound lane. Upon inspection from a Missouri Department of Transportation engineer, it was found that one of the several steal beams that provides support to the bridge was bent. No one was injured in the incident according to an officer at the scene.
