CHARLESTON - Robert "Jim Bob" Winger, 83, died Dec. 22, 2008, at the Charleston Manor.

Born Nov. 10, 1925, in the Belmont community of Mississippi County to the late Joseph and Berry Ringo Bone Winger, he had lived most of his life in Mississippi County, attended school in Columbus, Ky., then Fish Lake School, and was an eighth grade graduate of St. Henry Catholic School in Charleston. A member of St. Henry Catholic Church, he was a former member of I.O.O.F. Lodge 84 and had worked 37 years in the maintenance department at Brown Shoe Company until his retirement.

Surviving are two sisters, Mary Doris Zoellner and Ruth M. Pierceall of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, George Frederick Winger, and one sister, Joe Ellen Beck.

Prayers will be recited at 5 p.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston followed by visitation until 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Henry Catholic Church with Monsignor Richard Rolwing, senior pastor of St. Francis of Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston, serving as celebrant.

Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, Ky., under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tim Harvell, John Moore David Naumann, Mike Zoellner, Charles Pierceall, and Billey Walker.
