Bloomfield woman named to Council

JEFFERSON CITY - A Southeast Missouri resident will assist Missouri in preserving its historic places.

Sheila D. Perry, 54 of Bloomfield, was appointed by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt to serve on the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. The Council reviews the National Register of Historic Places nominations, reviews and provides advice on the state's Historic Preservation Plan and provides guidance and advice to the State Historical Preservation officer, according to the council's Web site.

A retired school superintendent, Perry holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and master's from Southeast Missouri State University, and doctorate from St. Louis University. Her appointment is for a term ending on Nov. 15, 2011.
