Churches, civic groups organize a cleanup effort

SIKESTON -- A communitywide cleanup effort will sweep through Sikeston Saturday as volunteers work to move broken limbs curbside at residences of the elderly and disabled.

"We're not going to do professional tree cutting, which would be getting up in the trees and cutting down the dangling limbs. We're mostly dealing with what's on the ground. ...We're going to do what we can," said the Rev. Geoff Posegate, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church.
