Sikeston pulls away from Jackson

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Bulldogs raced out to a quick start and pulled away for a 49-18 victory against Jackson on Friday night at Sikeston Public Schools Stadium.

Sikeston returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and, after a recovered fumble, scored on its first snap of the game to lead 14-0 less than two minutes into the game.

The Bulldogs racked up 460 yards of offense and turned a 10-point halftime lead into a blowout early in the fourth quarter.

Darryl Howard led the Bulldog ground game with 181 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns. He also had an 80-yard TD run called back due to a penalty.

Sikeston quarterback Trey Lewis completed 7-of-11 passes for 159 yards and a score while rushing for 79 yards and two touchdowns.

Wideout Janiel Hatchett caught five passes for 136 yards with a score.

Jackson managed 206 yards of total offense with Ethan Ruch leading the way with 99 yards rushing on 18 carries, including a TD run.

Indian quarterback Bobby Clark was 8-for-26 passing for 87 yards. He had two TD passes and an interception.

Sikeston improves to 5-0 and 2-0 in SEMO Conference action. Jackson falls to 2-3 and 0-2 in league play.
