Oran, Risco, Charleston, Portageville lose in district tournaments

Scott City seeks seventh-straight title tonight at home

ADVANCE -- The Oran Lady Eagles saw their season come to an end on Monday in the Class 1, District 3 Tournament at Advance.

Advance, the fourth seed, defeated Oran 25-19, 25-20 to advance to the semifinals against Leopold. The Lady Hornets then fell to the top seeded Lady Wildcats in straight sets.

On the other side of the bracket, second seeded Zalma defeated Marquand 25-3, 25-10 and moved to the semifinals to face third seeded Meadow Heights, 25-15, 25-14 winners over Oak Ridge.

Zalma then defeated Meadow Heights 25-19, 27-25 to move into the championship game tonight against Leopold.

Class 1, District 2

at Gideon

GIDEON -- The Risco Lady Tigers lost to the Clarkton Reindeer in two sets to open the Class 1, District 2 Tournament on Monday.

In other first round action, Gideon beat Campbell in two sets and Bernie topped Richland in two sets, setting up the semifinal round.

In the semifinals, Clarkton lost to top-seeded Bell City in two sets, while Bernie swept Gideon. Bell City and Bernie will meet today for the championship in a match-up of two Stoddard County schools.

Class 2, District 1

at Twin Rivers

BROSELEY -- The Twin Rivers Lady Royals, seeded fifth in the Class 2, District 1 Tournament, upset fourth seeded Portageville in straight sets on Monday night in Broseley.

Charleston saw their season wrap up with a two set loss to Senath-Hornersville while Malden won a three-set thriller over Caruthersville.

Twin Rivers will take on Bloomfield tonight in one semifinal with Senath-Hornersville and Malden squaring off in the other semifinal. The championship game will follow the two semifinal games.

Class 2, District 2

at Scott City

SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Lady Rams will be looking for their seventh-straight district title tonight in the Class 2, District 2 Tournament.

The defending Class 2 state champions will take on fourth-seeded Clearwater, 25-11, 25-19 winners over Puxico on Monday.

In the other semifinal game, second-seeded St. Vincent will take upstart Woodland, three set winners over third-seeded Saxony Lutheran on Monday night.

Scott City is currently the third ranked team in Class 2, with a 24-4 -1 record.
