Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety examine a vehicle that crashed into a house on the 200 block of West Kathleen shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday following a police pursuit. Earlier Tuesday, a warrant was issued for Lloyd Gilmore on charges of felony stalking and misdemeanor domestic assault, said Sgt. Jim McMillen, public information officer for DPS. An officer attempted to stop Gilmore's eastbound vehicle at a stop sign at the intersection of Ruth and South West Tuesday. According to reports, Gilmore then put the car in reverse and struck a vehicle behind his, pushing it a short distance. Then, the suspect went forward, attempting to strike the officer. A vehicle pursuit continued through town, until the vehicle driven by Gilmore struck the residence. Gilmore then fled on foot, and was detained shortly after on Greer Street. McMillen said additional charges are pending.
