SIKESTON -- New hires at the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities are going to have some big shoes to fill.

"We are losing somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 years of tenure experience, and that's not easy to replace," said Ed Throop, BMU's executive director.

The first of four longstanding employees retiring this year has already vacated her position.

"I retired last Friday," said Jackie Huls, who worked customer service in the front lobby.

The others will all retire on Sept. 23.

"That's my last working day," Bill Culp, customer service supervisor, confirmed.

Lester Wright, business manager, will also end his time at BMU at the main office but started there as well.

Retiring on Sept. 23 with Culp and Wright will be Diane Lane, data processing clerk.
