Deputies bust meth lab at hotel

BENTON -- A Doniphan man was arrested over the weekend for attempting to manufacture methamphetamine in a local motel.

Gary Lee Davis Jr., 35, is charged with attempting to manufacture a controlled substance. Bond is set at $75,000 cash only and as of Monday, Davis remains in custody at the Scott County Jail.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said his office received information that Davis was staying in a local motel and in possession of articles commonly used in the process of manufacturing methamphetamine

When officers located Davis he attempted to hide the chemicals, however officers acted quickly avoiding what Walter said could have become a very dangerous situation.
