BENTON -- Election officials are gearing up for a busy election year.

Scott County Clerk Rita Milam held a training session for new voting machines Scott County voters will use beginning with the Feb. 7 presidential primary election.

"The old equipment is six years old and was purchased with money from federal and state grants totaling $245,000," Milam said. "Scott County was offered new equipment through a different vendor for $15,000 that was paid through a federal grant. It was an offer that I felt we couldn't turn down."
