Clara Murphy

NEW MADRID -- Clara Jeanne Clark Murphy was born on April 30, 1932, and passed away on the morning of April 16, 2012.

On June 17, 1950, she married Gus Murphy Jr., and together they had six children. She was preceded in death by Gus and five of her children: Annette, Lynette, Tony, Mark and Amy.

Clara is survived by her daughter Cynthia Nelson and her husband Rocky, and her adopted daughter, Bunny Poyner. Penny Kampen and Phyllis Rose are her surviving sisters.

Clara had 11 grandchildren: Heather Stroud, Timothy Stroud, Sarah Nelson, Emily Nelson, Amanda Farrenburg, Cammy Gilmer, Abby Mims, Angela Murphy, Christine Murphy, Rachel Murphy and Christopher Murphy. Additionally, she had 15 great-grandchildren.

Clara was a retired nurse and dedicated her life to helping others in Southeast Missouri.

Open visitation will be from 5--8 p.m. today at the Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Richards Funeral Home.

Her final resting ceremony will immediately follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.
