Chaffee continues to roll with 13-0 win

PATTON -- The Chaffee Red Devils improved to 16-1 with a 13-0 road win over Meadow Heights on Monday.

Chaffee allowed only one hit while pounding out 14 themselves, including six doubles. Jimmy Golden led Chaffee going 3 for 4 at the plate with two doubles. Cody Payne was 2 for 4 with a double while Jared Walker was 2 for 2 with a double.

Alex Crowe earned the win on the mound, pitching three scoreless innings while allowing only one hit and striking out seven.

Chaffee is back in action on Wednesday when they host Oak Ridge at 4 p.m.

CARUTHERSVILLE -- The South Pemiscot Bulldogs improved to 6-11 on Monday with a 8-1 win over Caruthersville on Monday.

Jacob Trammel was 3 for 5 for South Pemiscot while John Thomas Laden was 2 for 3 with a double.

Risco 6, Southland 1

RISCO -- Caleb McCord and the Risco Tigers opened the first round of the Tri-County Conference Tournament in a big way.

Risco's starting pitcher threw a complete game victory allowing just two hits and two walks. McCord also struck out a whopping 16 batters during the Tigers' 6-1 win.

"He was in a groove, that's for sure," Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship said about McCord. "Southland's not a bad team at all, Caleb was just in the zone and went after hitters."

The only damage Southland did to McCord was a solo home run by Austin Vaughn to lead off the second inning. After that, Risco scored two runs in the next three innings to give them more than enough run support.

Chris Pavy led the Tigers with two hits, including a double.

Brandon Bixler led off the third inning with a two-run home run and McCord added two RBI.

Risco (10-5) will play Cooter in the second round today at 2 p.m.

Notre Dame 7, NMCC 2

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The New Madrid County Eagles fell to Notre Dame on Monday 7-2 at Notre Dame High School.

The Bulldogs put up two-run rallies in each of the first three innings while adding their final run in the fifth. Both the Eagles runs came in the top of the third.

Though NMCC was outhit 9-4, NMCC got a solid performance from Kyle Harris, who went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and a run scored. Gabe Smith had a double and JayShawn McDaniel had a single to account for the rest of the team's offense.

Now standing at 8-6 on the season, the Eagles will host Poplar Bluff today at 4 p.m.

JACKSON -- The Kelly Hawks dropped a close 3-1 game to the Jackson Indians Monday.

The game, which was originally scheduled to be played at Kelly High School but was moved to Jackson, featured just five hits -- three from Jackson and two from the Hawks.

Ian Householder took the loss.

Kelly (8-10) will host Clearwater today at 4 p.m.

Oak Ridge 21, SCC 0

OAK RIDGE -- The Scott County Central Braves allowed just seven hits but gave up over 20 runs Monday losing to Oak Ridge 21-0 in five innings.

Kelby Brown got the win for the Blue Jays while Blaine Johnson pitched the loss.

Oak Ridge scored seven runs to open their half of the first inning and never looked back.

Scott Central (2-9) will host Hayti today at 4:30 p.m.

Scott Central's Kayla Guzman took the loss.

Derien Ditto led the Bravettes with two hits including a double.
