Fishy weekend

A fishermen shows the crowd his albino catfish which he caught during Saturday's Bass Pro Shop's Big Cat Quest Tournament at New Madrid. There were 25 teams taking part in the event, which Ken Freeman, the promoter for the event, described as a "shootout of the big guns" in catfishing. In addition to some local competitors, fishing teams came from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi. Winning the New Madrid tournament were Jason and Darryl Masengill, whose catch of five fish weighed in at 162.65 pounds. The largest single fish weighed in and then released back into the Mississippi weighed 64 pounds.
