HAMMOND, Ind. -- Lynn Shephard, 93, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died June 9, 2012, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born July 11, 1918, in Hammond, to the late Rollin and Pearl Williams Shephard, he was a laboratory technician at the American Oil Company and retired in 1977. He was a World War II veteran and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post in St. John. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Orak Shrine in Michigan City.

He first married Lillian Torpey who preceded him in death. In 1986, at Hammond, he married his wife, Nellie, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Judy Whited of Florence, Ala.; one stepdaughter and son in-law, Nancy and Alfred Mills of Hammond; and eight stepgrandchildren, 26 step-great-grandchildren and 12 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled at 5 p.m., with masonic rites at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church where services will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Spell officiating. Continued visitation will follow until 8 p.m.

A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bocken Funeral Home in Hammond with burial following in the Elmwood Cemetery.

The Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston is in charge of local arrangements.
