SIKESTON -- As Steve Borgsmiller steps into his new role as director of Southeast Missouri State University's Sikeston campus, his 31-year career in education comes full circle.
Borgsmiller has spent the past 12 years as the superintendent of the Sikeston R-6 School District. Prior to that, he served as city manager for Sikeston from 1992 to 2000. He previously served as principal, assistant principal and a classroom instructor at Sikeston High School for 19 years.
When he worked as the city manager for Sikeston, Borgsmiller said he had the opportunity to work with the university and negotiate on behalf of the city to help bring the campus to Sikeston in 1998 and to its current location today on North Main Street.
