BERTRAND -- Buddy Lee Vanover, 72, died July 31, 2012, at the Bertrand Nursing Center.

Born April 30, 1940, at Sikeston, to the late Lester and Virginia Metcalf Vanover, he was a graduate of Sikeston High School and lived in Bertrand most of his life. He was a salesman for Reelfoot Packing Company and later retired from Town and Country Supermarket after four years as a meat cutter. He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

On Sept. 29, 1962, he married Marilyn Jean Jobe, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are: one son, Todd Vanover of Bertrand; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Christian Curtis of Sikeston; three brothers, Myron Vanover and Tony Vanover of Sikeston and Jerry Vanover of St. Charles; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Dave Cullen, pastor of the Cornerstone Church in Bertrand, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Austin Vanover, Cody Vanover, Jody Vanover, Kevin Vanover, Scott Vanover and Mike Jobe.
