KANSAS CITY -- Tera Lynne Williams, 52, died Aug. 11, 2012, at her home.

Born Nov. 22, 1959, in Knoxville, Tenn., to Kenneth D. Williams of Sikeston and the late Nancy Lou Moore Williams, she was a 1977 graduate of Sikeston High School. She graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and in 1987 received a master's degree in music education from the UMKC Conservatory of Music. She had been an elementary music teacher with the Lucy Wortham James Elementary School in St. James and at Southeast Elementary in the Park Hill School District, retiring from English Landing in 2010. She was nominated for Teacher of the Year award by the Park Hill School District and the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce awarded her an Excellence in Education--Teaching award in 1999. She was a member of Platte Woods United Methodist Church where she participated in the vocal choir, handbell choir and orchestra.

In addition to her father, she is survived by: a sister, Kathryn Comish of Highland, Ill.; and a brother, Stephen Andrew Williams of Sikeston.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Platte Woods United Methodist Church, 7310 NW Prairie View Road. Visitation will continue from 1 p.m. until time of burial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 1307 N. Main Street in Sikeston.

Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley.
