Allene Taylor

SIKESTON -- Allene Taylor, 97, died Nov. 2, 2012, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 30, 1915, in Brookport, Ill., daughter of the late Floyd and Edith (Simmons) McMullin, she was a member of Rauch-Spence Memorial Methodist Church and had worked in the cafeteria at Morehouse Elementary School for 18 years and then was a Foster Grandparent for 24 years.

She is survived by one son, Bobby Joe Taylor of Hackett, Ark.; one daughter, Margaret Taylor of Morehouse; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Colleen Lambert; and one granddaughter, Laurie Ann DeWitt.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Ron Spell, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery at Essex.
