SIKESTON -- It's still in the planning stages, but Sikeston R-6 School District is working to implement a new way of instructing students in the 21st century -- using tablet computers.

The initiative -- called One-to-One (or 1:1) -- uses the tablets to engage students and enhance their learning experience by creating an equal opportunity as every student -- and their teachers -- will have access to a tablet computer, which in this case would be an iPad.

"We are not adding technology just for technology's sake," said Michelle Gilmer, R-6 technology coordinator.
