BLOOMFIELD -- Marjorie Manerva Quick Proffer, 96, died Jan. 10, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 31, 1916, in rural Bloomfield, daughter of the late Luther F. and Millie A. Scism Quick, she had lived all her life in Bloomfield where she taught for over 30 years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield until moving to Cape Girardeau.

On Oct. 29, 1943, in Dexter, she married Lee T. Proffer who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Asa A. Quick, George O. Quick, Cloid V. Quick and Seldon F. Quick, and two sisters, Floda Glaser and Geraldine Quick.

Survivors include: one son, James Proffer of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Mary Johnson of Festus; one grandson, Jason Johnson of Festus; and one sister-in-law, Louisa Quick of Bloomfield.

Visitation will be held from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Monday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Jeremy Myers of Bloomfield will officiate.

Burial will follow in the North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield.
