SIKESTON – The National Honor Society (NHS) announced that Chloe Lin, a high school senior at Sikeston High School and member of NHS, has been selected as an NHS Scholarship semifinalist.

“This is the second year a student in our local chapter has received this award, and we are so proud of Chloe,” said Sikeston High School’s NHS sponsor Kim Thornbrough.

At Sikeston High School, Lin has taken on many leadership positions, including Vice President of Distributive Education Clubs of America, Project Coordinator of Key Club, and Treasurer of the Youth Advisory Council. Lin has also been involved in community service, as a Co-founder of a non-profit organization, an advocate member for Luv Michael’s, and a tutor through the A+ program. This fall, she will attend the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania to study Entrepreneurship with a minor in Foreign Languages.

Since 1946, more than $25 million in scholarships have been awarded to outstanding NHS senior members to support college access and student success. The scholarship program is supported by the parent organization of NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

In the 100-plus years since NHS was founded in 1921, members have been making a difference in their schools and communities, and the NHS Scholarship is NASSP’s way of recognizing the most exceptional of these student leaders. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
